Seriousness and concreteness

For years, our company has chosen to seriously embrace  sustainable development through the enhancement of by-products, the optimization of energy resources, the efficiency of production and the reduction of waste. 

Our priority is to contribute to a better future, in harmony with the ecosystem and the communities around us. For this reason, we adopt an increasingly attentive approach to sustainability, obtaining ECOVADIS GOLD Rating, which takes the form of:

Optimization in the use and protection of water and energy sources

We are under the AIA regime no. 752/18 of 12/03/2018 and A.I.A. revision of 16/02/2023 with substantial modification for the inclusion of salt pans and purifier.

Environmental certification in accordance with UNI EN ISO 14.001:2018 standards.

Environmental Impact Mitigations

We care about the environment so we carefully manage the handling of large volumes of liquid raw materials, the use of water resources, the recovery of heat and refrigeration sources, the optimization of purification and disposal.

We conducted an analysis of the LCA Carbon footprint relating to our production, which confirmed the significant improvement in the environmental impact thanks to the use of cogeneration and the recovery of treated permeate water for the first washes.

Electricity production and heat recovery

We are equipped with a  high-efficiency co-generator, with heat recovery in the form of steam and hot water, reduction of gas consumption in the management of steam generators and water heating for C.I.P. washing, as well as for heating offices and laboratories. 

We have one tri-generator which, in addition to producing energy and steam, produces chilled water to be used in brine cooling and pasteurizers. This allows us to achieve high energy efficiency, reducing CO2 emissions, and increases independence from the electricity grid, improving resilience and environmental sustainability.

Finally, a photovoltaic system was installed, with a production capacity of 500 kWatt, to produce clean and sustainable electricity directly from the sun, reducing CO2 emissions.

Water management and purification

Part of the water is osmotized to be reused as fluid refrigerants in the cooling of cooked whey. 

In addition, we treat the water for discharge into the Surface Water Course with a Polisher system, which allows us to reuse part of the washing water and produce an energy concentrate for biogas.

For the treatment of washing and process wastewater we have 2 purification plants:

  • One biological which works in batches, complete with screen and flocculator
  • One biological which came into operation in 2023 and works in a continuous cycle

The oxidation sludge is concentrated with a centrifugal separator and managed with a CER code, to be reused in BIOGAS plants.
